JV Initational Results

.

The video from the JV Invitationals can be reached by clicking on the title of this post.

Monarch High School JV CHeerleaders received 15th place at the JV Invitationals. The scoresheets were awesome! The judges really enjoyed our routine that was pretty clean until the final stunt. In fact, with no penalty, we would have made finals, and been in 5th place.

I am so proud of all of the girls. They really pulled together this week to put a great routine on the competition mat. NICE JOB!!!

UCA Regionals results

I am sorry that I took so long to post this. I was enjoying my Thanksgiving break with a new almost complete kitchen. Yay!

So, for those that left before the varsity results, varsity placed second in large varsity, right behind Eaglecrest. Way to go Varsity!

Of course congratulations to JV for earning 10th place out of 16 teams on our first time out to a UCA competition. I am very proud of all of you.

As for Varsity football, Monarch lost in overtime on Saturday to end their season in 3rd place. We are very dissappointed that we do not get to cheer at Invesco field, but it was a great season for the Coyotes.

Now we will get geared up for basketball season beginning in January.

OKAY QUICK SCHEDULE CHANGE

.

UGH! I am always the last to know about schedule changes.

So, Freshmen football is Wednesday at 4pm, and JV is THursday at 3pm, both games are at home. These are the last games for both teams. So, I think we should go, especially since we missed some of the last few games.

On the other hand, we really need our mat rental practice to prepare for our competition.
So, here is my plan:

Wednesday: Meet at school at 3:15 to prepare to cheer for the Freshmen Football game. We can leave at half time (around 5pm), so everyone can get home to eat, change, and do homework. Then we go to our mat rental at 8. We do not need to arrive at 7:45 because we will already be warmed up. It is a long day, I know, but this is the last week of football.

Then, Thursday, we will cheer for the JV after school as we were planning to cheer for Freshmen at that time anyway.

Captains will let you know what to wear.

Then, no game on Saturday.

Freshmen game scheduled for Friday, Ocober 30th

.

So, I have just found out that the freshmen game scheduled for Friday is going to be rescheduled. I do not know the new time. But, there is no game after school tomorrow.

Also, the final Varsity home game has been rescheduled for Saturday at 11 am. Plan to arrive at the game by 10:45am to watch from the stands.

One last reminder:

Remember who you are when at Club Mo Friday night. You are Monarch Cheerleaders! Be on your best behaviour, and lets work on a good reputation for the team. Act like the respectable young ladies that I know you are, and have fun.

See you Saturday. I hope you have enjoyed the snow.

BVSD is closed for the day due to weather. By this evening the snow is expected to by very heavy. Therefore, no practice tonight at Xtreme.

We were not scheduled to have practice on Thursday afternoon. Stay tuned for news about the gootball game Thursday afternoon.

The weather is expected to clear by Friday afternoon, so we should be attending our Freshmen game in Brighton.

Stay tuned, and enjoy the snow day.

Tuesday tumbling normal times at Xtreme: 6, 7, or 8pm

Wednesday: Xtreme mat rental 8-9pm

We should return to the school by around 7:45 or 8pm. Have the girls bring a sandwich or something to eat. Do not forget full cheer sweatsuits, warm gloves and hat. Warm undergarments like UnderArmour will be helpful as well. I have the poms from the competition that I will bring.

Battle at the Capitol competition Oct 24

.
The tentative schedule has been posted for the competition on Saturday.

Monarch JV is on the warmup mat at 1:33pm and competes at 2:12pm. This is a tentative schedule, so we may go earlier or later.

Monarch Varsity warms up at 3:45 and competes at 4:17. The awards ceremony is at 5:25pm.

So, tentatively plan on meeting at the school at 10:45am. We will review the routine a few more times before piling into the carpool for a departure time no later than 11:30am. The event is at the Denver Colliseum which is aboout 30 minutes away. We need registered drivers for the carpool. I can take up to 6 girls.

We should return to the school by 7pm.

Concessions are provided at the event, and you are not allowed to bring in outside food or drink. They actually check bags, and last year, made people throw things out. So, please provide your daughter with some spending cash. It will be a long day. The cost for spectators is $11, and parking is free.

The number one JV in the state from last year, Grandview, will be there to compete as well as Green Mountain High School. None of the teams from this last weekend are going to be competing. Varsity competes against 6 other schools including Grandview.

.

This Saturday, October 17th

.

So we cheered in the freezing cold last week, and this week when it is nice, we will be inside watching a cheer competition.

I asked the girls, and the consensus was that we need to go to the cheer competition. There are 5 JV teams competing, and these schools are big names in the Colorado cheer world. It would be very good for the girls to see these teams compete. We also want to cheer on our Gold squad.

Meet at the school at 8:40, we will leave at 8:50 sharp. We pull out at 8:50! The JV teams compete from 10 to 10:30, then some all star teams and individuals, and group stunting competitions. Our varsity competes at 12:45 and the awards are at 1:30. We should be back at the school around 2:30pm for pickup.

The cost per person is $11 at the door. The girls are wearing their JV Cheer jerseys. Bring a lunch and cash for drinks if you would like.

The school is about 45 minutes away in Parker, CO.

15655 Brookstone Drive
Parker, CO 80134

I currently have myself and Katie O'Connell's mom driving. If you can drive as well, let me know. I believe Varsity may have some room in cars coming home.

Registration for JV Invitational

.
It is time to register for the JV Invitational on December 12th. The entries are due soon. I am sending the waiver home with everyone today as well as a T-shirt preorder form.

The T-shirts are long sleeved and will list all of the teams competing at the event. I am hoping everyone will order a shirt. They cost $15 and can be paid by credit card or check. If I get all of these forms back by next Wednesday, I can send this in with the registration.

One more decision to make for preorder are the event group photos. Immediately following our performance, a professional photographer will arrange a group shot of our JV team in front of a backdrop. If we order at least 10 photos in advance, they will be $10 each. Otherwise they are $15 paid at the event, or $17.50 paid after the event. So, please let me know if you would like to order a group photo in advance and get me a check to "Tri-Star Event Photo" for $10 per photo. (They will take a formal and fun shot. So I also need to know if you would like the Formal, Fun, or Both at $10 each, just write it on the memo line of the check).

Let's just get everything out of the way at once. Please get everything back to me by next Wednesday, October 21 at practice. (this is the dress rehearsal at Xtreme gym).

1. Waiver
2. T-shirt order form with check or credit info on form
3. Check for photo order (these will not be cashed until after the event.)

See the link below for all information about the JV Invitational.

Bundle UP!!

Well, the snow looks to be very light. Here in Superior, there is only a dusting of snow. So, it looks like the game is on this morning.

Meet at the school at 9am. We will head into the enryway by the cafeteria to warm up. Hopefully the gym is open for warming up stunts. The game starts at 10am.

Wear your undershell, cheer top, sweatpants, cheer jackets, gloves, cheer bow, earmuffs or warming headband if you have it. Bring poms. If you have long john underwear, that may be nice as well. The forecast for this morning is very cold. It should feel like about 20 degrees.

I will see everyone soon.

Hot chocolate sounds great right now!

Competition Uniforms

For our upcoming competition, we will be wearing Varsity's competition uniform from last year. It is white on the front and black in the back, with gold trim and a large M and Monarch across the front. We will wear it with our white undershells.

If you did not already purchase one used from varsity, you will need to borrow one from someone for the competitions. (We will need them by October 21st for dress rehearsal.) I have sent an email to varsity members to see if they would be willing to sell this uniform at this time. This uniform was used for 2 years, so there are more than 30 out there. These uniforms were sold for half price in the spring, but I do not know that cost. Does anyone know how much these went for this year?

If everyone was able to purchase a uniform used, then we could use them at games as well. My original plan was that everyone would be able to purchase them used, but I think that only a few people were able to do that. Let me know if you would like to try to buy a used uniform, and I will find out how many from varsity would be willing to sell them and for what price.

Details will follow.

.

Picture Day Wednesday

Reminder:

Wednesday, October 7th, arrive no later than 4pm
Wear game uniform with white undershell and bring poms.
Wear your hair however you like.
We will be taking individual photos and a group photo.

The photos are being taken by Zemi photography. This is their website:

http://www.zemiphoto.com/

I only received one order form as a sample. (There were only enough for varsity.) So you will need to fill out the form when you get there tomorrow, or send your child with a blank check made out to Zemi Photography (with a spending limit), or your daughter can call you tomorrow with the order form, and get your credit card information over the phone. I will try to get the form scanned so I can send it to everyone.

PS: My scanner did a terrible job, nothing is legible.

I realize that most parents will not be there tomorrow for picture time. It also looks like you can order online later.

Sick policy

.

We have a confirmed case of H1N1 "Swine Flu" amongst the JV cheerleaders. There is no need to panic. This flu is prevalent in the community as a whole at this point, and is no worse than the "regular" flu in most cases. However, everyone needs to take precautions, and be vigilant about washing hands and not sharing beverages, water bottles, or food.

If you have a sore throat or fever, please let me know via text, email, or phone, and do not come to practice or activities. If you miss school, you cannot attend practice. A student must attend at least 3 hours and 45 minutes of school to be eligible for an activity. This includes games and practice at Xtreme if you are sick.

I have included a link to the Boulder Valley School system flu prevention website. On this website, you will find links to the CDC and other helpful information about flu prevention.

Link: http://bvsd.org/frontnews/Pages/ColdFluPrevention.aspx

If you need to miss practice, here is my contact information again:

Junior Cheer Clinic Sept 18

For those who would like to help out at the Junior CHeer Clinic, varsity is arriving at the gym at 8 am and wearing their game uniforms. The event runs until 3pm, just in time to meet for our game in the afternoon.

The cheer clinic is optional, and only Varsity is splitting the proceeds because they need to pay for nationals, but you are welcome to go help out. They are expecting over 100 young girls to attend this year, so they can use your help. I will be there most of the day as well. Do not forget to bring a lunch and drink.

Battle at the Capitol

.

So, our first competition is only about a month away, October 24th, and we need to get our registration forms turned in by the deadline which is fast approaching. I handed the forms out to the girls at practice Wednesday night at Xtreme. Please have those back to me by this Friday at the game. I need to mail all of the forms by Monday. If you need to print another copy of the form, follow the link to www.midwestspirit.com, and go to the Battle at the Capitol, and forms.

Also, make sure that you have at least $38 in your cheer account to cover the registration fee.Tami sent out statements last week. If you need to add money, please get a check to Tami or Tatiana made out to MHS with Cheerleading in the memo line.
(Just FYI: This is the most expensive competition that we will attend. UCA is $27 per girl and the JV invitational is $40 for the entire team. So the total for all competitions is about $68. Spectators will need to pay at the door, and that cost is different for every competition.)

Monarch Gold Squad SpiritFest Grand Champions!!!

.
Congratulations to the Monarch High School Gold Squad competition team including 5 of our JV cheerleaders. They rocked the house in the pouring rain, and nailed every stunt for first place in the Varsity 5A cheer division at Elitch Gardens. They won a team trophy, a giant stuffed bear, "Grand Champion" sweatshirts, and season passes to Elitch Gardens for next year. NICE!!

Let's keep up the winning streak. The Black squad will start practicing our competition routine this week. I cannot wait to get going with that.

GO MONARCH!!!

ELITCH COMPETITION

Varsity and Gold squad competitors are meeting at 1:30 at Monarch HS to go to Elitches. They will just go straight to warm up for their competition time of 4:35pm. They have decided to wear their competition uniform as it will be a little chilly on Saturday. It shows rainy and a high of 57 degrees.

For those that are competing, meet at the school no later then 1:30pm to carpool. You do not need the special Elitch competition ticket to get in. Just get into the park however you had planned, a season pass, or discount ticket, or buy full price at the entrance.

So, for JV girls who are NOT competing, you are welcome to go to Elitches whenever you want with your family, (please, no dropping girls off alone at the Park). I did not get much response about JV carpooling, but Varsity has enough drivers to get everyone there and back. So you are welcome to come to the school and carpool over at 1:30pm. I will not be at the park until after 2pm, so if you are going early with your family, let me know so we are not looking for you at the school. Then meet us at the old Batman Theater at 2:45pm to check in with us.

Now for outfits for those NOT competing: it will be a little chilly for polos and skorts. So, let's wear the polos with jeans. You will probably want to bring an umberella or poncho. I am worried about the girls losing their very nice and expensive new cheer jackets, but bring a jacket of some kind. If you bought one of the new ones from Nikki, that would be perfect.

Text me with questions.

.

Sorry about tonight at the Game

.
OKay, so I wanted to let everyone know that I was fine. I had to head to the hospital for some emergency care, but 11 stitches and some painkillers later, I feel fine. It was just a crazy thing. I was spotting a stunt, and had to catch the flyer, and my face got in the way. I am going to have a pretty good shiner that I can be proud of.

I hope that you enjoyed the game in my absence. I am so sorry that I missed it.

I will see everyone tomorrow for Elitches.

Practice this week September 7

.

AHH, the best laid plans.

I already need to change the schedule for this week. We have 2 varsity members who unexpectedly will need to be out of the Elitches competition this Saturday. Therefore 2 or 3 JV members will need to attend varsity practice this week to prepare to compete with Gold squad this Saturday.

Juliana and Fallon were already planning to compete. Now Tatiana, Reilly, and Tori, will be attending varsity practice this week as well.

Therefore, it will not be worthwhile to hold regular JV practices this week. So here is the schedule for this week only:

Tuesday: Gold squad will be practicing from 7 to 9, so for those not listed above, please come to the early practice from 6 to 7 at Xtreme for tumbling.

Wednesday: no Practice at all, JV mat rental is cancelled this week due to missing 5 girls.

Thursday: Practice after school in cafeteria 3:15 to 4:30 (NOTE THE SHORTENED PRACTICE)

Friday: meet at Spangenberg Field at 5:30 for Varsity game. (wear jerseys and jeans or capris, we will sit together in the stands and talk about football and watch and cheer with the varsity cheer squad.)

Saturday: Elitches SpiritFest. (Wear Polos and Skorts to Elitches. Varsity is also competing in the polos), (Time TBD) ALL JV NEED TO ATTEND THIS COMPETITION.

Special note: the cheer bags are in! Thank you Barb Silk! I will bring them to tumbling on Tuesday.

Practice Schedule for Post-Competition Season

.

So that everyone can begin planning for their winter schedules, here is the cheer schedule:

Regular Practice Schedule Through December 12, (competition season):
Mondays: 5:30 to 7:30pm at school
Tuesdays: Xtreme tumbling per your ability grouping
Wednesdays: mat rental at Xtreme for competition routine practice 8 to 9 (arrive 7:45)
Thursdays: 3:15 to 6pm at school

Begining in January and thru February, (basketball season):
Mondays: optional conditioning 3:15 to 4:30 at school, see below *
Tuesdays: Xtreme tumbling per your ability grouping
Thursdays: at school 3:15 to 6

NON-MANDATORY: For those interested, I will try to set up some ability-specific additional tumbling classes. Also, this may be a good time to get some private lessons at Xtreme or Cheer Central, if you are interested, to get ready for tryouts in April.

* Also optional, I am planning to hold conditioning class on Mondays with running and workouts in the weight room beginning in January. This will probably be after school on Mondays until 4:30. This class is for working towards the goal of these girls being ready for tryouts in the spring.

JV and Freshmen Basketball games are on Tuesdays, Fridays, and a couple of Wednesdays in January and February. We will cheer for some girls and some boys games for each age group. I will not schedule Tuesdays so that we do not miss our tumbling practice. So most games will be on Fridays. I will post the schedule as soon as I know it.

Then we take a break in March and tryouts begin again next April.

Labor Day Parade

.

Meet at the basket ball courts behind Louisville Middle School by 9am on Monday.

The parade begins promptly at 10am, and we are the 21st to go, I believe.
We will march down mainstreet, and stop for a performance in front of the grandstands, (this is what we practiced on Wednesday). Then we continue to march to the Elks, then go to awards at the Louisville Community Park afterwards.

The girls can be picked up around noon at Community Park.

Wear black polo outfits with gold bows, and bring poms.

Game and School 8/31

.
Hopefully the captains have let everyone know what to wear to school on Monday.

Do not bring your megaphones to school. We will use them at the game on Friday. I will keep them in my car. Don't forget your poms and non-competition cheer shoes. Meet out at the field ASAP after school to warm up and prepare for the game. The game starts at 4pm.

Fallon and Juliana will be at Gold squad practice on Monday, so some Varsity cheerleaders will cheer with us. I am excited to have cheerleaders for the JV Football squad for the first time in 6 years.

Xtreme schedule

We have finalized the schedule that will begin on September 7th:

Monday nights at the school 5:30-7:30pm.
Tuesday nights at your scheduled time at Xtreme, see post below.
Wednesday night at Xtreme 8 to 9pm for mat rental. Arrive at 7:45 pm to stretch quietly in the corner so we are ready to go at 8.
Thursdays after school until 6pm.

The cost at Xtreme will be $80 per girl monthly September through December. Then we will go back to a smaller fee at that point for the remainder of the season for once/week tumbling. I had hoped that we could practice at the Broomfield location on Wednesdays, but staff was not available at that time and location. So, all Xtreme classes will be held at the Lafayette location.

FOR NEXT WEEK, August 31st to Sept 4th this is the full schedule:

Monday, August 31st: Game directly following school vs. Bear Creek (no practice)
Tuesday, Sept 1st: New Xtreme practice schedule, see earlier post for your time
Wednesday, Sept 2nd: Added Labor Day Parade practice after school until 4:30.
Thursday, Sept 3rd: No after school practice this week. Meet at Xtreme at 6:45pm to 8:30pm
Friday, Sept 4th: Game directly following school vs. Thomas Jefferson.

The Wednesday and Thursday practices are changed this week due to Varsity having a game on Thursday, so they need to swap practice times at Xtreme.

I know that this is a convoluted schedule, but hopefully once we get going, it will fall into place.

Updated Scrimmage Day Friday 8-29

Yesterday we discovered that the Freshmen football team is playing their scrimmage at Monarch's field. The JV is still scheduled at Centaurus. So, we will only be there for the JV game at 5:30 and to watch the varsity game at 6:30 until 7. Yesterday, I told the girls to be there by 5:15, but upon further thought, we need to arrive a little earlier.

ALL JV CHEERLEADERS NEED TO BE AT SPANGENBERG FIELD (at Centaurus HS) BY 5pm to stretch and get prepared.

.

Scrimmage Day this Friday at school

So, don't forget the scrimmage is this Friday, August 28th, at Spangenberg Field at Centaurus High School.

At school on Friday, wear your "COYOTES" vegas gold shirt with jeans or jean shorts, or capris, and any black, white, or brown shoes that you have. (Varsity is doing the same).

Then we will dress in our game uniforms for the game that evening with white shoes and gold bows, no undershells. Arrive by 4:45, we will watch some of the freshmen football scrimmage from the stands, then warm up and cheer a little for the JV scrimmage. Then the varsity scrimmage begins at 6:30, and we will stay to watch some of that. We will be ready to leave by 7pm.

.

Monday, August 24, 2009

Monarch K8 Back to School Picnic

Monarch K8 has asked us to come and perform at the back to school picnic.

I told the girls today to be at the school at 5:30 this Wednesday, August 26th to practice for 30 minutes before heading over to the middle school. They need to wear their paw print polos and the black skort with white trim. Do not wear competition shoes, as we will be performing on grass. Wear your gold bows as well.

New Tumbling Class Format at Xtreme

I am happy to inform you that we have figured out the new tumbling format!

This week will remain the same, August 24th to 30th:

Tues 7:30 - 9:00 for all, Thur 7:30 - 9:00 varsity, and Thursday optional 7 - 8 JV.

Then on Tues, Sept 1st the format changes. This is the start of the new billing cycle. I am negotiating a timeslot for JV to practice on Wednesdays for 1 hour of mat rental. The total monthly cost should be about $80. I will let you know when that is finalized. This extra class will only be held through our competition season which ends mid December, (3 months). Then we will return to Tuesday nights only. At that time, we can look into other options for optional additional tumbling instruction to get these girls prepared to make varsity next season.

On Tuesdays for the remainder of the season, we will split the teams into 4 groups. These groups are split based on skill level, and varsity and JV are comingled. Coach Mark, the owner of Xtreme, assessed all of the girls last week and divided them into these 4 groups. These groups may change as someone improves to be with the next level up. Some changes may happen pretty quickly. It currently looks like this:

Group one: 6 - 7pm

Juliana, Fallon, Alex, Josie, Reilly, Hannah, Katie O., Tori R. & Kaitlin

Group two: 7 - 8pm

Sam, Bridgette, Bailee, Kelsey, Natalie, Michelle, Lily, Rachel & Cortnee

Group three: 8 - 9pm

Tatiana, Emily, Ashton, Nicole, Katie D., Ally, Torrey C. & Erin

Group four: also 8 - 9pm

Teal, Ashlyn, Randi, Izzy, Alexa, Sarah, Melissa & Taylor

(group 3 & 4 will have two instructors from 8 to 9)

It is EVERYONE'S goal to make improvements in their tumbling and get some new skills for the routine. I would love to have full squad backhandsprings and roundoff/Backhandsprings by JV invitional in December.

For those who are pracicing with Gold squad, Thursday nights will change time on Sept 3rd!! They will practice from 7:00 - 8:30pm!!! This will allow girls to get home earlier :-)

Please let me know if you have any questions. I believe overall, these will be positive changes and I look forward to seeing some great new skills emerge from the girls! Thanks for your input and support.

Coach Cathy and Coach Lucie

p.s. Great job at the pep rally Friday!!! We were very impressed with you ladies :-)

JV Pizza Party at Kaitlin's House

Mary Ann and Kaitlin Weidmann have offered to hold a pizza party at their home for the JV Cheerleaders.

The party is from 5-7pm on Saturday, August 29th.

The address is 804 W. Mulberry Street in Louisville. Phone 303-665-2155.

We will be making Survival Kits and each girl will be decorating a surprise item.

I hope that everyone can attend because these are individual items that need to be decorated by each girl. We will be using these items at the games.

Labor Day Parade

Every year the Monarch Cheerleaders march in the Louisville Labor Day Parade down Main Street, and perform in front of the grandstands. This year both Varsity and JV will be marching in the parade together. I know that this is short notice, so if you have made other plans for Labor Day just let me know.

If you are participating, the parade begins marching at 10am, so we will probably meet at around 9am to warm up and practice for the performance. Stay tuned because that time may change after I decide how many people are participating and what the performance will be. Details will follow about the meeting location and uniforms.

Let me know whether or not you will be available for the parade on Labor Day.

Pep Rally

The pep rally is scheduled for 2:15 pm this Friday, August 21. Parents are welcome to attend. Parents have in previous years found a spot together on the right hand side of the gym as you enter from the main entrance, in the center portion of those stands. Be there by about 2pm, so that you can get into the gym and find a seat before the students file in.

You obviously do not need to attend, but if you would like to you are welcome. JV and varsity will be performing together on the basketball court. But you need to be prepared to yell with them in the cheer. Just follow their lead and cheer with them.

GO COYOTES!!!

Monday, August 17, 2009

First week of School Schedule

Tuesday night normal time at Xtreme.
Wednesday wear the black jersey with a black tank top under it and either jeans, jean shorts, or capris to school. Please get to the gym ASAP when school is over on Wednesday. We are practicing for the pep rally until 4pm. (this week only)
Thursday, after school until 6pm.

Pep Rally this Friday! Wear your game uniforms with no liner to school on Friday. I will let everyone know when I find out what time the pep rally is scheduled for on Friday. Parents are welcome to attend.

Mandatory Practices and Captains Vote

Mandatory practices begin on Monday. Be sure that you have completed your athletic registration before practice begins. Practice on Monday is from 1 to 5 pm.

NEW INFORMATION: Please wear your game uniform to practice on Monday with the bow and no liner. We need to take a photo for the website. Then bring your vegas gold "COYOTES" shirt and "MOHI" shorts to change into.

We will practice for the pep rally with varsity and then for our football games.

CAPTAINS: We will also vote for the two cheerleaders who will be captains for the rest of the season on Monday. If you are planning to try for captain, be prepared to sell yourself to your team. You will stand up in front of your team and tell them why they should vote for you. The voting is by closed private ballots. Everyone will choose their two best candidates. Once the season begins, the captains will be very busy with scheduling poster making, letting everyone know what is being worn to school, talking with the coach after practices about the season, etc. You will need to be very organized and on-task and able to take charge of the warm-up time and practicing of the cheers. It is not an easy job. So keep that in mind when deciding if you would like to try for the position.

Our regular shedule begins on Tuesday August 18th.

Monday at the school from 5:30 to 7:30.
Xtreme Altitude is on Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 9.
Thursdays At the school from 3:15 to 6.

Football Schedule Changes

So, the football schedule has changed for this season. Most of the changes are in the first few games. See the football schedule post below. I have made the changes.

Sorry about the wrong schedule, I had the original schedule that was posted in the spring. Apparently over the summer it has changed.

Rob Barke leaving Xtreme Altitude Gym

So, many of you have heard that Rob will be leaving the gym after Thursday's practice. So, if you would like to come say goodbye, everyone is welcome to come to the gym Thursday evening at 8:30pm for a goodbye party.

Many of the varsity girls, and some JV members have known him for years. Some of the JV did not have the priveledge to get to know him. He is a very charasmatic and enthusiastic coach that was a great asset to Monarch Cheer and he will be missed.

As for moving forward, Cathy and I are meeting with the owner of the gym to discuss the new coach to fill that role, as well as Monarch practice schedules for the fall. Many of you are enrolled in the extra tumbling class on Thursday nights. This class will probably end at the end of the month, but I am talking to the gym about other options. (our practices at the school will be on Thursday afternoons.)

We can discuss at the parent meeting what the plan will be for future tumbling practices. I would say that the Tuesday night classes will remain the same.

Cheer Bags

The link below shows the cheer bags we are ordering. It will be 10 x 10 x 23, Black with a black strap, and Monarch Cheer embroidered on one side and the girl's names on the end. With embroidery, the total per bag is $52. This is the same bag they ordered last year.

http://www.sportwaves.com/selectgym.htm

Varsity members are required to have the bags, but they are optional for JV. They are sturdy and usually will last all four years if treated properly.

If you are interested in purchasing a bag, I need to know by this Sunday.

Checks will be due at the parent meeting, made out to "Monarch High School", as the full payment will be made from the cheer accounts. (The $100 that you are depositing in your cheer accounts at the parent meeting should cover the bag. Just be sure to put another $50 at a later date before competition fees become due in October.)

Please email me if you would like to order a bag, and the name exactly as you would like it to appear on the bag. (first names only).

Monarch Parent Meeting - Updated 8/18

The cheerleader parent meeting for both Varsity and JV has been scheduled for 6pm on August 19th in the cafeteria. Every cheerleader and at least one parent needs to attend.

The signed cheer contracts will be due at that time, (most of you have already turned these in), as well as the order form for cheer gear.
This would be a good time to get checks to Tammi Warman for your cheer accounts. Make checks to "Monarch High School" with "Cheerleading" in the memo line. This should include the balance of your uniform order as well as an additional $100 for ongoing expenses.

Tami Warman has sent out your cheer account balances via email. Please be prepared to pay that balance plus the $100 at the parent meeting if possible. The $100 is due by the end of the month.

Athletic Registration

This week registration begins at the High School. Everyone involved in a sport at Monarch needs to also complete an Athletic Registration Packet. For fall sports, like cheerleading, this registration needs to be completed and turned in to the athletic office by August 14th, before the first mandatory practice on August 17th. The Athletic office hours are:

9 to noon and 1 to 3 M-F beginning on Wednesday, August 5th.

Please print the forms from the website (see the "Monarch Athletic Registration" link below), and turn them in during office hours.

The athletic office secretary, Elisabeth, has asked that I return the physical forms to the girls, and they need to turn them in with their registration packet. So, I will return the Physicals to the girls at practice on Tuesday morning.

Learn Your Cheers Test Schedule

There are 30 cheers on the video, and many others that are not on the video. Please get with your cheer sisters and learn your cheers. On each test day you will be tested on the new cheers for the day as well as a spot test on previous material. If you do not know a cheer, you will need to give me 10 pushups per cheer, and stay after practice on another day to show me that you have learned those cheers.

(Note this schedule has been relaxed a little because of cheer sisters being hard to reach or out of town.)

Here is the test schedule: (Page number refers to page on the video)

Tuesday, August 4: Page 2 (6 cheers)
Thursday, August 6: Pages 3 (6 cheers)
Thursday, August 13: Page 4 (6 cheers)
Retest, August 17th: Page 4 (6 cheers)
Thursday, August 20: Page 5 (6 cheers)
Thursday, August 27: All cheers from video and those not on video (This is your game readiness tryout)

Everyone will need to pass every cheer before they will be allowed to cheer at a game. I do not expect perfection, but everyone needs to know all of the cheers. The first game is August 31st. (Not including the scrimmage on August 28th)
